Drink & Draw!

Last Thursday was The Warren's first Drink & Draw, and we have to say, it was brilliant. There were familiar faces and brand new faces alike. We drank, laughed, and drew everything from rain clouds to Bob Ross as a Walrus (which Kayla deemed a WalRoss), alligators in hammocks, squirrels painting their toenails, and everything else under the sun.

It was honestly a dream to have everyone come together to spend time making things - and being a brand new make space, it gave a whole new meaning to the term.

If you missed the Drink & Draw, fear not! We'll be hanging out every third Thursday of the month to gather, sip, and make things. This means our next D&D is May 19 from 7-9pm!

Also, we're very excited about our event tomorrow evening: The Art of Licensing with Illustrator, Lauren Lowen! She'll be joining us from 7-8:30 pm for a lecture to share her work and talk about licensing. The event is free and open to the public. Donations are greatly appreciated.

See y'all soon!

The Warren - Official Opening!

THE WARREN - OFFICIAL OPENING! This Saturday April, 9th; 6pm-9pm

We are opening our doors as part of the East Side Art Stumble. Come check out the studio, see our artists’ work and their workspaces, have a drink, and get to know folks! We will also have prints and cards for sale.
We are so excited to introduce The Warren to East Nashville and to be part of this growing community.

We are located on the corner of 10th and Fatherland in East Nashville. Our entrance is around the back of the purple building on the second floor, suite 201. There is parking in the back and on the street.

See you this weekend!

Opening!

On March 3, we invited Friends and Family over for a soft opening. It was incredible to have so many lovely people in the space, and the potential for gatherings felt boundless once the space was alive with friends. We are working hard to get ready for our Official Opening April 9! Hope to see you there!

The Farmhouse

In February, The Warren went on a fieldtrip! We loaded up and headed out to Cookville for a night, where we stayed at an old farmhouse - complete with cows and baby sheep. Let me say that one more time: BABY SHEEP! It was a chance for all the artists to get to know one another, to eat homemade meals together, to sit around a fire together, and to play Oijua Board to no avail. (It sucks growing up!) Our lovely member Zie couldn't make that it that weekend, so we had a guest illustrator - Katie Turner - who came along.

In the future, we're planning to open up fieldtrips to more artists, so keep your eyes peeled for that. We can't promise the Oijua Board will ever move, but we do cook a mean chili, and we're always up for drawing in the woods.

Huge thanks to all the ladies that braved The Warren's first fieldtrip. We can't wait for the next one!

Hello World!

Here is the story of a simple little make space called The Warren.

Back in November of 2015, we (Rebecca Green and Kayla Stark) began our hunt for an illustration workspace in Nashville. We were both looking for a studio which would act as a full time working office, but also a space for workshops, visiting artists, lectures, demos, shows, and other community events.

And FINISHED! The Warren is in the top right of the middle building. (photo from google images)

After an initial failed attempt, Kayla's husband Brad (thanks Brad!) found some new buildings going up in the Shoppes on Fatherland District in East Nashville. We were both immediately taken with the space - and it didn't even have walls yet. We were both reeling with ideas for artists and the community to come together and we signed the lease almost immediately. After reaching out to community members, we found three incredible local artists to join the space as well.

The Warren will officially open in coming weeks, and we can't wait to be part of the Nashville Art Community. If you'd like to receive updates about upcoming events, please sign up for our newsletter! We'll be sharing more soon on the space, the artists, and our vision.

With love, from all of us here at The Warren.
