Have you ever imagined your artwork on stationery and apparel? How about wrapping paper or fabric? More artists are entering the world of licensing, a creative field where artists allow companies to reproduce their artwork on products for a fee. This lecture covers the business basics of art licensing, which clients license artwork, and what portfolio pieces are needed in the market.
Join us for a talk with Lauren Lowen, a local brilliant illustrator. Since receiving her degree in illustration from The Rhode Island School of Design, Lauren's artwork has appeared in magazines, on book covers, and even as stickers! She taught Illustration at both Montserrat College of Art and RISD before starting a new chapter at C.R. Gibson in Nashville, TN. After working in the giftware and stationery industry, she returned to her personal illustration and licensing full time. The artist teaches illustration and licensing classes at Watkins College of Art and Design, and is also represented by Jennifer Nelson Artists. Clients include Hallmark, Scholastic Press, Galison/Mudpuppy Press, Carus Publishing, Williams-Sonoma, Girls' Life Magazine, Department 56, and Utne Reader.
The event is free and open to the public. Donations are appreciated!
